MVP Development

MVP

It has two defining factors:

  1. Minimum – Nothing is included that’s not essential. This is how you ensure you get your most important feedback for the smallest possible investment.
  2. Viable Product – Your MVP is not a model, it’s an actual product and it must be operational, sellable and usable.  The MVP must provide value to your users.

How long does it take to make an MVP?

How long does it take to make an MVP depends on the complexity of the MVP. Some complex app ideas can be simplified a lot for the MVP, while for other ideas, high level of complexity is integral to the app’s core functionality and most of the features needs to be included in the MVP.

What are mockups?

A mockup is a very basic visualisation of your project or even a part of the project. A picture that shows the way you imagine your app or site will look and therefore helps to understand how it will work.

Why are they needed?

A mockup is simply the most practical way to clearly communicate your ideas to your developer. One nice thing about mockups is that you don’t need to worry about their quality.

What are wireframes?

Wireframes are basically, black and white images of every screen of the project you have in mind. The main purpose of these wireframes, is to show the positioning of elements on each of the screens. They help you, to plan and see the necessary layout and structure of the whole project.

Mockups and wireframes

Sometimes before making wireframes, you’d create mockups. Typically they are a very raw, basic illustration of the project that you want to develop.

Producing wireframes

Once you have a basic idea of which screens your product consists of, you then want to talk to a specialist. This should be someone who understands user experience and design, knows industry standards and best practices.

Proof Of Concept (POC)

POC is “a realization of a certain method or idea in order to demonstrate its feasibility. A proof of concept is usually small and may or may not be complete.

When do you need a proof of concept?

Most of the time you only need a POC when you or your developer are not sure whether the technical result you want is achievable. This might be because you’re trying to do something completely original and new, or it might be because you’re trying to create a streamlined, cheaper version of something done elsewhere with more investment.

You don’t always need a POC. In fact, the majority of the apps and projects we work on don’t require them. In most cases, the technological concepts required for an app are familiar, tried and tested. When working with a proven idea, no POC is needed.
